Kherson City and Region Tours

Kherson Region (oblast) has more than 28 000 square kilometers. It is the seventh big administrative region of Ukraine. Kherson Region was formed in 1944. Before that area was a part of Mykolaiv Region. 

- St. Catherine Cathedral (1791-1796), Bell Tower (1806), Count Grigoriy Potemkin tomb (1791), Military Necropolis;
- Kherson city historical center of 19th century;
- the remnants of ramparts and gates of the fortress of 18th century (St. Petersburg, Ochakov Gate, Storage facilities);

- Sophia Cathedral (1780);
- St. Nicholas Church (1819);

- "Breech Park" (Regional Lyceum Park, 1868);
- British philanthropist, lawyer, prisons reformer John Howard (1726-1790) Memorial.

- There were more than 26 synagogues in Kherson town in 19th-20th centuries. Among them there are 16 buildings, that are saved till nowadays. One of them is Old Nicholas Synagogue (1780th).

- Biosphere Reserve (sanctuary) "Askania-Nova", within the dry Taurida steppe near Oleshky Sands;
- Adzhygol Hyperboloid Lighthouse (1911);
- Gola Prystan' Salina and mudbath;
- Oleshky Sands, the biggest natural massive of sand in Ukraine;
- the Black Sea Biosphere Reserve;
- salty geyser and a bath house;

- the world's largest artificial forest

Kherson born people 
The prototype of famous cinema hero James Bond, Salomom Rosenblum (also known as Sidney Reilly), who was born in Khersonsky region, was hired by British Secret Intelligence Service as a secret agent.
The second Prime Minister of Israel in 1953-1955 Moshe Sharett was born in Kherson in 1894.
Prime Minister of Bulgaria in 2005-2009 Sergey Stanishev was born in Kherson in 1966.
Legendary Olympic Champion (1956, 1960, 1964) Larisa Latynina was born in Kherson in 1934.
