LENIN MONUMENT ON YALTA EMBANKMENT

The monument to the first leader of Communist country in Yalta was one of the town`s main sights a the Soviet period . It stands in the square from which the embankment, the favourite promenade promenade of Yalta`s residents and guests begins. A majestic bronze figure of Lenin rises on a red granite pedestal framed with a bronze cornice of stylized laurel leaves. A board granite stairway is in fact a socle of the monument. The authors of the design are the sculptor, the USSR State Prize winner P. Yatsyno and the architect A. Fomin. The monument was univeied on January 21st, 1954, the 30th anniversary of Lenin`s death. A few splendily executed monuments have been erected in Greater Yalta in honour of Vladimir Lenin (Ul`yanov). The most known of them are in the central squares of Yalta, Alupka, Koreiz, at the Artek Young Pioneer Camp and in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden.
