Joann Zlatoust's (John Chrysostom)
Orthodox churche and it`s bell tower were constructed in 1832-1837 on Paleokur Hill of Yalta according to
the project of the architect from Odessa Gelogi Torichelli. Except it`s
direct purpose, the belfry which was standing on the high hill, was used
by sailors as a reference-point for navigation. In the 1880-s of XIX century century it was
put down to the sailing directions of the Black Sea. During the battles
in the Warld War II the temple was destroyed, but the bell tower
remained intact. It is a historical and architectural monument nowadays. After the Soviet Union collaps in 1991 it was restored like a regular Orthodox Christian church. There is
an observation platform near the church, from which a nice view of
the city is revealed.
