The jags of Ai-Petri resemble the teeth of a huge dragon (about 100 meters in height). This is an ancient coral reef, having risen from the sea bottom many millions yers ago. The Ai-Ptri Plateau is also noted for its karst cavities, the most famous of wich are Kaskadnaya pit, one of the Crimea`s deepest (about 400 meters), and Cave Tryokhglazka (of Three Eyes) equipped to receive sightseers.
From Misckhor township to the jags of Ai-Petri runs a cable road, offering a most memorable ride.
On our way to Miskhor and Koreiz and further on to the cableway that takes tourists to the top of Mount Ay-Petri, we passed by a gallery of chic resort centres, some of which were old parks studded with palaces and villas. The quality of services has gone up in recent years, as well as the prices which are ahead of quality.
Yalta Sevastopol Private Tour Guides will go up with you by cableway to the top of Ay-Petri (St. Peter) Mount and the rather scary trip took about twenty minutes. Possible it looks like a sort of like playing Russian roulette, the main difference being that it is not you who turn the drum. The ropes did not break as we thought they might and the swinging cabin rode in safely delivering us to our destination. The view from the top beats any views that can be found in Italy or Greece. In addition to the tremendously amazing view of the sea and the coast, you can discover a sort of an oriental-style colourful bazaar with food and wine being the principle commodities. Dozens of barkers called out to us in stentorian voices "to roll on up and try this wine” or ‘this pilaff” or whatever else there was to try. Mostly the wine is dry red, but you can easily get loaded by just "tasting” here and there.

The construction of the Miskhor-Ay-Petry Ropeway started at 1967 and were lasting for 20 years. Only on 31st of December 1987 the members of the state control engineering commission were the first passengers. The Ropeway is 2980 meters long from Miskhor to Ay-Petry peaks. During the lifting on a lower district you will pass two 18 meters supporting columns and you will get the middle station on the 391 meters height, where is the tickets control and the changing carriage for upper district.
The upper district, the longest in Europe, without supporting columns, is unique, 1670 meters long and has an angle 46 degrees near the mountains. During 15 minutes of lifting from the bird's flight height you will enjoy the panorama from Gurzuf to Foros. Getting the upper station on 1153 meters high you will continue your trip to reserve by yourself. The Ropeway is corresponded to all the modern norms of safety. Every day before starting the work the Ropeway is taking under the full technical control.
