This tour is
specially tailored to suit the lovers of nature. The Botanical Gardens
of Nikita, known for its collection of trees, shrubs and an old
arboretum. Laid out in 1812 by botanist Christian Steven, the Botanical
Gardens is designed in a landscape style with picturesque terraces
descending to the sea. Some 6-km from Yalta the gardens are a
picturesque open-air museum, which comprises more than 18 thousand
species of plants from Mediterranean countries, South East Asia, Africa
and South America. The Botanical Gardens of Nikita is also a major
scientific-research institute with production and experimental grounds.
During your guided visit to the gardens you will walk along the cypress
alley and pine groves, will see varieties of leave-bearing and
coniferous trees, natives of Crimea and relics of world flora. Enjoy the
cacti collection numbering about 15 hundred cacti and succulents and
which is a special pride of the Gardens.
Note: Guests must
be able to walk approximately 1.25 mile over various surfaces, with
numerous steps, inclines and long periods of standing. Comfortable
walking shoes are recommended.
